DESCRIPTION
The Real Avid Bore Boss® .17 Rifle is a compact, self-storing pull-through bore cleaner designed for fast maintenance of .17-calibre rifles at home, at the range or in the field.
Its single-piece Dual-Action Cable incorporates a phosphor-bronze brush followed by an 8½-inch braided mop. As the Bore Boss is pulled through the barrel, the bronze brush loosens carbon and other fouling before the braided mop sweeps away the loosened debris.
The coated cable wraps neatly around the Flex-Case handle for clean, tangle-free storage. Once the cable has been fed through the barrel, it clips into the handle to create a comfortable pulling grip. Its pocket-sized design makes it easy to keep in a range bag, cleaning kit or hunting pack.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Which rifles is the Real Avid .17 Bore Boss designed for?
It is designed for compatible .17-calibre rifle bores, including popular cartridges such as .17 HMR, .17 Hornet, .17 Mach 2 and .17 WSM.
How does the Bore Boss clean the barrel?
The integrated phosphor-bronze brush loosens fouling as the cable is pulled through the bore. The braided mop follows behind to collect and remove the loosened debris.
How long is the cable?
The rifle-length cable is approximately 32 inches or 813mm long.
Does the handle provide storage?
Yes. The cable and cleaning section wrap around the Flex-Case handle, helping keep the Bore Boss organised and preventing the dirty mop from contacting other equipment.
Does the Bore Boss replace a complete cleaning kit?
It is excellent for quick and routine bore maintenance. Heavily fouled barrels may still require a cleaning rod, bore guide, patches and suitable cleaning chemicals for a more thorough clean.
Can it be used with cleaning solvent or oil?
A small amount of firearm-appropriate cleaning product may be applied when required. Follow the chemical manufacturer’s directions and avoid saturating the braided mop or storing it while excessively wet.
Can this .17-calibre model be used in a .22 rifle?
No. Use the correctly sized .22-calibre Bore Boss for a .22 rifle. An undersized cleaner may not properly contact and clean the bore.
Can it be used in a .177 air rifle?
Do not assume automatic compatibility. Air-rifle barrel dimensions and cleaning recommendations can vary, so check with the air-rifle manufacturer before use.
Which direction should it be pulled through the barrel?
Whenever the firearm design permits, feed the cable through the chamber and pull it towards the muzzle. This helps protect the muzzle crown. Never reverse direction while the bronze brush is inside the bore.
How should the Bore Boss be stored after cleaning?
Allow it to dry as required, then wrap the cable around the Flex-Case handle. The self-storing design helps contain residue and protects the brush and mop between uses.
What safety checks should be completed before cleaning?
Completely unload the firearm, remove all ammunition from the cleaning area and visually and physically confirm that the chamber and magazine are empty before beginning.
